Only Solitude Can Cure Your “Ordinariness”

Solitude is good medicine

Only solitude
can cure your “ordinariness”

In an age
stuck on double-speed playback,
we all seem to have caught
a fear of being left on our own.
Open your phone: nothing but noise and fun.
Walk into a crowd: nothing but smiling faces.
But have you ever, late one night,
suddenly felt a vast emptiness?

In truth, in this clamorous world,
meeting someone who really understands you,
who is on your wavelength,
is harder than winning the lottery.
So first, accept this fact:
solitude is, for most of us,
simply the most honest state of things.

But today I want to invite you to look again
at this ordinary state from another angle.
Perhaps this loneliness you try so hard to avoid
is not a punishment.
Perhaps it is a good medicine
that heaven has pressed into your hands,
made especially to cure
that ordinariness in our bones
that drifts along with the current.
01
True ordinariness is losing yourself

You think
ordinariness means having no money, no status?
No.
That is only what the world calls “unsuccessful.”
True ordinariness
is a kind of spiritual cutting of the foot to fit the shoe.
It is filing down
the sharp edges of your character
just to fit in.
It is forcing yourself,
just to please others,
into the “standard frame” someone else drew.

At the dinner table we raise our glasses
and say things we don’t mean.
On social media we hit “like”
to keep fragile connections alive.
We try desperately to become someone others will like,
even pretending to be happy
just to seem “normal.”

And the result?
You even forget what you used to love.
You win the crowd,
but lose the one thing that mattered: your real self.
That is the greatest ordinariness of all.
02
Solitude clears the room for the soul

Why is solitude good medicine?
Because it is a forced pause button.
When life drops you into solitude,
it is really clearing the room for you,
shutting out the noisy voices
and the false relationships,
all of them, at the door.

Because only when no one is around
do you dare to take off the mask you wore all day,
gently.
Only then can you stop tending to anyone else’s feelings
and tend only to your own breathing.
This is a precious moment of looking inward.
You can make yourself reflect:
Is the life I’m living now the one I want?
What is it that I truly long for, deep down?
Listen to that voice deep inside,
the one you have ignored for so long.
In that voice lies your real strength.
03
Beasts walk alone; cattle and sheep move in herds

So, my dear,
since the one who understands you hasn’t arrived yet,
since there is still no one around you who resonates,
why not first learn to understand yourself?
Stop forcing yourself into
circles that don’t belong to you.
That kind of noise is a drain.
Keep your time for yourself, and grow roots inward.

Read, and in books
talk with great souls.
Exercise, and feel
your body and your will pushing against each other.
Be alone, and enjoy
this rare quiet.

Remember this saying:
the great beasts always walk alone; only cattle and sheep move in herds.
In this world
only the weak need to huddle together for warmth,
while the strong
are used to gathering their strength in solitude.

Use this solitude
to cultivate yourself into someone calm, certain and unbreakable.
When you no longer need the world’s approval to prove yourself,
when you begin to enjoy being alone,
you have upgraded your life.
And in the end you will find:
even if the world stays quiet and empty,
on your own you can live like an army of thousands.
